The current 2010 IASPM-Canada executive is pleased to announce the opening of nominations, beginning June 1, to fill the positions of

on the IASPM-Canada executive. All members are invited to make nominations for the position, according to the guidelines below. If your membership in IASPM-Canada has expired, now would be a great time to renew, since nominations will only be accepted from current members. To join or renew your membership, go here.

STAGE ONE: CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The call for nominations is to fill the positions of

• President
• Conference/Elections Coordinator

on the executive committee. The newly elected members will be asked to sit on the IASPM-Canada executive for 3 years beginning June/July 2010.

The election procedure calls for the process to be as follows:

1. Nomination Period Opens June 1, 2010 (for two weeks)
2. Nomination Period Closes June 14, 2010
3. All nominations should be sent to the elections officers, Holly Everett and Marlie Centawer, by email to the following addresses:

Nominations sent by post should be postmarked on or earlier than the end of the nomination period.

4. The Elections Officers will contact all nominees to make sure they are willing to stand for election and request a statement.

STAGE TWO: DECLARATION OF A SLATE, OR ACCLAMATION

Stage Two will begin 7 days following the close of the nomination period on June 14, 2010. If only one candidate is put forward for the position, she or he is acclaimed. If no candidate is put forward, then the executive will approach individuals until someone accepts, and that person will be acclaimed. If there are at least two candidates for the position, then we move on to stage three. The slate or a notice of acclamation will be posted to the IASPM-Canada listserv and the website within one week of the closing of nominations (June 21, 2010).

STAGE THREE: CANDIDATE INFORMATION PERIOD

Candidates will have the option of preparing a statement of their qualifications and reasons for wanting to sit on the IASPM-Canada executive. These statements will be distributed through the IASPM-Canada listserv, and posted on the website. Candidates must submit these statements, in both French and English, within one week of the slate being declared, and they will be posted immediately. Voting will begin one week after the slate is declared.

STAGE FOUR: VOTING

Voting will remain open for three weeks and will be anonymous. Voting will take place using a double-envelope system. Current IASPM-Canada members will be sent a ballot and an addressed envelope with postage. Members are asked to fill out the ballots and return them in the envelope within the three-week time frame (June 28 to July 18).

STAGE FIVE: DETERMINATION OF RESULT

For the election to be valid, votes must be received from at least two-thirds of the current membership. Members will receive constant reminders to return their ballots. In accordance with the election procedures, if quorum is not reached, the executive will first extend the voting period by one week, along with an urgent call for participation. If quorum is still not reached following the extension period, then the result will be decided by the executive. If quorum is reached, the result is decided by simple majority (i.e., the candidate with the most votes wins). The result will be announced within one week of the final close of voting.

ÉTAPE UN: APPEL DE CANDIDATURES

L’appel de candidature vise à combler les postes

• Président
• Coordonnateur/trice au colloque et aux élections

au sein du comité de l’exécutif. Le mandat du membre élu est de trois ans et commencera à juin/juillet 2010.

Règles de l’appel de candidature selon la procédure d’élection :

1. Début de la période d’appel de candidatures: 1 juin 2010 (pour deux semaines)
2. Fin de la période d’appel de candidatures: 14 juin 2010
3, Toutes les candidatures devront être envoyées par courriel à les dirigeants d’élection, Holly Everett et Marlie Centawer, aux adresses électronique suivantes:

Les candidatures envoyées par la poste seront acceptées si la date du sceau postal correspond à la date de fin de la période de l’appel de candidatures ou est antérieure à celle-ci.

4. Les dirigeants d’élection entreront en contact tous les nominés afin de savoir s’ils/elles désirent se présenter pour les élections et afin de leur demander un document de présentation.

ÉTAPE DEUX : ANNONCE DES CANDIDATS OU ACCLAMATION

La deuxième étape commence sept jours suivant la date de fin de l’appel de candidatures, le 14 juin 2009. Si un seul candidat a été nommé pour le poste, celui-ci est élu par acclamation. Si aucun candidat n’est présenté, l’exécutif approchera certaines personnes, si l’une d’elle accepte, elle sera élue par acclamation. S’il y a deux candidats ou plus, il faut passer à la prochaine étape. La liste des candidats ou le nom de la personne acclamée devra être diffusée sur la liste de diffusion de l’IASPM-CA et affichée sur le site Web moins d’une semaine après le début de l’étape deux (21 juin 2010).

ÉTAPE TROIS : PÉRIODE D’INFORMATION SUR LES CANDIDATS

Les candidats ont la possibilité de préparer un document pour faire part de leurs qualifications et de leurs motivations à se présenter à un poste de l’exécutif de l’IASPM-Canada. Ces documents seront envoyés sur la liste de diffusion de l’IASPM-CA et affichés sur le site Web. Les candidats doivent soumettre leurs documents, en français et en anglais, moins d’une semaine après l’affichage de la liste des candidats. Les documents seront distribués, tel que mentionné plus tôt, un semaine après l’affichage de la liste de candidats. Le vote commencera un semaine après l’affichage des documents.

ÉTAPE QUATRE : VOTE

La période de vote sera ouverte pour une période de trois semaines et sera anonyme. Les votes seront soumis au moyen du système à deux enveloppes. Les membres en règle de l’IASPM-Canada recevront un bulletin de vote et une enveloppe adressée préaffranchie. Les membres devront remplir et retourner le bulletin de vote dans l’enveloppe moins de trois semaines après la réception (du 28 Juin au 18 juillet).

ÉTAPE CINQ : DÉTERMINATION DU RÉSULTAT

Pour que l’élection soit valide, le taux minimum de participation devra être d’au moins deux tiers de l’ensemble des membres. En ce sens, les membres recevront plusieurs messages leur rappelant l’importance de retourner les bulletins de vote. Si le quorum n’est pas atteint, l’exécutif devra prolonger d’une semaine la période de vote avec une sollicitation urgente de participation. Si le quorum n’est toujours pas atteint, le résultat sera déterminé par l’exécutif. Si le quorum est atteint, le résultat est déterminé par la majorité (le candidat avec le plus grand nombre de votes obtient le poste). Le résultat sera annoncé au plus tard une semaine après la fermeture de la période de vote.
